जिहाद

JIHAD

 मोहम्मद जब अपने नगर मक्का से पलायन कर के यथ्रीब (वर्तमान मदीना) में रहने लगा तो उसके साथ उसके गिने चुने अनुयायी भी आये थे. मदीना वासियों ने मोहम्मद का स्वागत किया और इन सभी मुसलामानों को सत्कार से रखा. मोहम्मद, मक्का वासियों से प्रतिशोध लेना चाहता था और अपने सम्प्रदाय के बढ़ाना चाहता था. इसके लिए जब उसने मदिनावासियों को लड़ाई में मुसल्मानूं का साथ देने को कहा तो उन्होंने ये कहते हुए इनकार कर दिया कि अल्लाह का ऐसा कोई आदेश नहीं है. इस का वर्णन हमें कुरान की इस आयत में मिलता है.

When Mohammad migrated to Yathreeb (now called Madina), the number of his followers was very small and the idol worshippers of Makka did not consider him to be worthy of being a prophet. In Yathreeb, he started preaching Quran and asked the residents to help in fighting against the citizens of Makka. They declined saying that there is no such saying from Allah, so we will not fight.

In reply to this cold response, the following verse was revealed to Mohammad, which was recited for the benefit of the residents of Yathreeb.

Quran asks Muslims for Jihad

47:20

وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٌ ۖ فَإِذَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ مُّحْكَمَةٌ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا الْقِتَالُ ۙ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ الْمَغْشِيِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ ۖ فَأَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ

[47:20] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और मोमिनीन कहते हैं कि (जेहाद के बारे में) कोई सूरा क्यों नहीं नाज़िल होता लेकिन जब कोई साफ़ सरीही मायनों का सूरा नाज़िल हुआ और उसमें जेहाद का बयान हो तो जिन लोगों के दिल में (नेफ़ाक़) का मर्ज़ है तुम उनको देखोगे कि तुम्हारी तरफ़ इस तरह देखते हैं जैसे किसी पर मौत की बेहोशी (छायी) हो (कि उसकी ऑंखें पथरा जाएं) तो उन पर वाए हो

जो लोग ईमान लाए वे कहते है, "कोई सूरा क्यों नहीं उतरी?" किन्तु जब एक पक्की सूरा अवतरित की जाती है, जिसमें युद्ध का उल्लेख होता है, तो तुम उन लोगों को देखते हो जिनके दिलों में रोग है कि वे तुम्हारी ओर इस प्रकार देखते है जैसे किसी पर मृत्यु की बेहोशी छा गई हो। तो अफ़सोस है उनके हाल पर!

Those who believe say: "How is it no Surah was revealed?" But when a categorical Surah is revealed that mentions war, you should see those who are sceptical staring at you like a man in the swoon of death. Alas the woe for them!

[47:20] Sarwar

The believers say, "Why is a chapter about jihad - fighting for the cause of God - not revealed?" But when such a chapter, with clear commands and a mention of jihad is revealed, you will see those whose hearts are sick look at you as if suffering the agony of death. One can expect nothing better from them!

[47:20] Hilali & Khan

Those who believe say: "Why is not a Surah (chapter of the Quran) sent down (for us)? But when a decisive Surah (explaining and ordering things) is sent down, and fighting (Jihad - holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is mentioned (i.e. ordained) therein, you will see those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) looking at you with a look of one fainting to death. But it was better for them (hypocrites, to listen to Allah and to obey Him).

[४७:२०] नीरज अत्री 

मोम्मिन   कहते हैं: "हमारे लिए कुरआन की कोई सुरा (अध्याय) क्यों नहीं प्रकट हुई? किन्तु जब एक निश्चित सुरा  प्रकट हुई जिस में जिहाद का उल्लेख (अर्थात आदेश) है तो जिन के मन में (पाखण्ड की) व्याधि है, उन के मुख ऐसे हो जाते हैं मानो उनकी मृत्यु होने लगी हो. किन्तु उनके लिए उचित होगा कि वो (पाखंडी) अल्लाह का कहा मानें.

Through Jihad, Allah tests his followers.

47:31

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّابِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَ أَخْبَارَكُمْ

[47:31] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और हम तुम लोगों को ज़रूर आज़माएँगे ताकि तुममें जो लोग जेहाद करने वाले और (तकलीफ़) झेलने वाले हैं उनको देख लें और तुम्हारे हालात जाँच लें

[47:31] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

हम अवश्य तुम्हारी परीक्षा करेंगे, यहाँ तक कि हम तुममें से जो जिहाद करनेवाले है और जो दृढ़तापूर्वक जमे रहनेवाले है उनको जान ले और तुम्हारी हालतों को जाँच लें

[47:31] Hilali & Khan

And surely, We shall try you till We test those who strive hard (for the Cause of Allah) and the patient ones, and We shall test your facts (i.e. the one who is a liar, and the one who is truthful).

 [४७:३१] नीरज अत्री

 और यकीनन  हम उनकी परीक्षा लेंगे कि उन्होंने अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद किया और तुम्हारे तथ्यों को जांच सकें (अर्थात कौन सत्य कहता है और कौन मिथ्याभाषण करता है).

[47:31] Ahmed Raza Khan

And We shall indeed test you until We make known the warriors and the steadfast among you – and to test your proclamations.

[47:31] Daryabadi

And of a surety We shall prove you all until We know the strivers among you and the steadfast, and We shall prove your states.

Never think of peace if you have the upper hand.

47:35

فَلَا تَهِنُوا وَتَدْعُوا إِلَى السَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ وَاللَّـهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَالَكُمْ

[47:35] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

अतः ऐसा न हो कि तुम हिम्मत हार जाओ और सुलह का निमंत्रण देने लगो, जबकि तुम ही प्रभावी हो। अल्लाह तुम्हारे साथ है और वह तुम्हारे कर्मों (के फल) में तुम्हें कदापि हानि न पहुँचाएगा

[47:35] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

और (दुशमनों को)े सुलह की दावत न दो तुम ग़ालिब हो ही और ख़ुदा तो तुम्हारे साथ है और हरगिज़ तुम्हारे आमाल (के सवाब को कम न करेगा)

[47:35] Hilali & Khan

So be not weak and ask not for peace (from the enemies of Islam), while you are having the upper hand. Allah is with you, and will never decrease the reward of your good deeds.

[४७:३५] नीरज अत्री 

यदि तुम्हारी स्थिति सुदृढ़ हो तो दुर्बल मत बनो और (इस्लाम के शत्रुओं से) शान्ति की वार्ता मत करो. अल्लाह तुम्हारे साथ है और वो तुम्हारे शुभ कर्मों का पुरूस्कार कम नहीं करेगा.

[47:35] Yusuf Ali

Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.

[47:35] Pickthall

So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions.

Mohammad used to sell the women and children of his defeated enemies in slave markets to obtain horses and weapons for warfare. Allah asks Muslims to spend likewise for Jihad.

47:38

هَا أَنتُمْ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ ۖ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ ۚ وَاللَّـهُ الْغَنِيُّ وَأَنتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ ۚ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوا أَمْثَالَكُم

[47:38] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

सुनो! यह तुम्ही लोग हो कि तुम्हें आमंत्रण दिया जा रहा है कि "अल्लाह के मार्ग में ख़र्च करो।" फिर तुमसे कुछ लोग है जो कंजूसी करते है। हालाँकि जो कंजूसी करता है वह वास्तव में अपने आप ही से कंजूसी करता है। अल्लाह तो निस्पृह है, तुम्हीं मुहताज हो। और यदि तुम फिर जाओ तो वह तुम्हारी जगह अन्य लोगों को ले आएगा; फिर वे तुम जैसे न होंगे

[47:38] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

और ख़ुदा तो तुम्हारे कीने को ज़रूर ज़ाहिर करके रहेगा देखो तुम लोग वही तो हो कि ख़ुदा की राह में ख़र्च के लिए बुलाए जाते हो तो बाज़ तुम में ऐसे भी हैं जो बुख्ल करते हैं और (याद रहे कि) जो बुख्ल करता है तो ख़ुद अपने ही से बुख्ल करता है और ख़ुदा तो बेनियाज़ है और तुम (उसके) मोहताज हो और अगर तुम (ख़ुदा के हुक्म से) मुँह फेरोगे तो ख़ुदा (तुम्हारे सिवा) दूसरों बदल देगा और वह तुम्हारे ऐसे (बख़ील) न होंगे

[४७:३८] नीरज अत्री

 ध्यान रहे कि तुम वो लोग हो जिन्हें अल्लाह के मार्ग में व्यय करने के लिए आदेश है किन्तु तुम में से कुछ धन देने से कतराते हैं. और जो ऐसा करते हैं, वो अपनी कीमत   पर ही ऐसा करते हैं. अल्लाह तो धनवान है और तुम निर्धन हो. यदि तुम इस से पलट गए (अल्लाह के आदेश से और इस्लाम से) तो वो तुम्हारे स्थान पर नए लोगों को ले आएगा जो तुम्हारी भांति नहीं होंगे.

[47:38] Maududi

Behold, you are those who are called upon to spend in Allah's Way, but some of you are niggardly. Whoever is niggardly is in fact niggardly to himself. For Allah is All-Sufficient, whereas it is you who are in need of Him. If you turn away, He will replace you by a people other than you, and they will not be like you.

[47:38] Pickthall

Lo! ye are those who are called to spend in the way of Allah, yet among you there are some who hoard. And as for him who hoardeth, he hoardeth only from his soul. And Allah is the Rich, and ye are the poor. And if ye turn away He will exchange you for some other folk, and they will not be the likes of you.

The following verse clears the way the money is to be spent for Jihad. It is for arms and horses.

8:60

وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّـهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَيْءٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ

[8:60] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और (मुसलमानों तुम कुफ्फार के मुकाबले के) वास्ते जहाँ तक तुमसे हो सके (अपने बाज़ू के) ज़ोर से और बॅधे हुए घोड़े से लड़ाई का सामान मुहय्या करो इससे ख़ुदा के दुश्मन और अपने दुश्मन और उसके सिवा दूसरे लोगों पर भी अपनी धाक बढ़ा लेगें जिन्हें तुम नहीं जानते हो मगर ख़ुदा तो उनको जानता है और ख़ुदा की राह में तुम जो कुछ भी ख़र्च करोगें वह तुम पूरा पूरा भर पाओगें और तुम पर किसी तरह ज़ुल्म नहीं किया जाएगा

[8:60] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

और जो भी तुमसे हो सके, उनके लिए बल और बँधे घोड़े तैयार रखो, ताकि इसके द्वारा अल्लाह के शत्रुओं और अपने शत्रुओं और इनके अतिरिक्त उन दूसरे लोगों को भी भयभीत कर दो जिन्हें तुम नहीं जानते। अल्लाह उनको जानता है और अल्लाह के मार्ग में तुम जो कुछ भी ख़र्च करोगे, वह तुम्हें पूरा-पूरा चुका दिया जाएगा और तुम्हारे साथ कदापि अन्याय न होगा

[८:६०] नीरज अत्री

अल्लाह और अपने शत्रुओं को, और जिन्हें तुम नहीं जानते किन्तु अल्लाह जानता है, धमकाने के लिए उनके विरुद्ध तुम जितने भी शक्तिशाली साधन जुटा सकते हो जुटाओ, जैसे युद्ध योग्य अश्व (टैंक, विमान, मिसाइलें, गोला बारूद इत्यादि). अल्लाह के मार्ग में तुम जितना व्यय करोगे, वो तुम्हारे पास लौट aayega और तुम्हारे साथ अन्याय नहीं होगा.

[8:60] Ahmed Ali

Prepare against them whatever arms and cavalry you can muster, that you may strike terror in (the hearts of) the enemies of God and your own, and others besides them not known to you, but known to God. Whatever you spend in the way of God will be paid back to you in full, and no wrong will be done to you.

[8:60] Maududi

Make ready for an encounter against them all the forces and well-readied horses you can muster that you may overawe the enemies of Allah and your own enemies and others besides them of whom you are unaware but of whom Allah is aware. Whatever you may spend in the cause of Allah shall be fully repaid to you, and you shall not be wronged.

[8:60] Shakir

And prepare against them what force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you do not know (but) Allah knows them; and whatever thing you will spend in Allah's way, it will be paid back to you fully and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.

In the following verse, Allah tells Muslims that he did not let Muslims attack Makka because for them it would have been difficult to distinguish between Muslims and non Muslims and due to ignorance some Muslims might have got TRAMPLED UPON by Muslims.

48:25

هُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْهَدْيَ مَعْكُوفًا أَن يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْلَا رِجَالٌ مُّؤْمِنُونَ وَنِسَاءٌ مُّؤْمِنَاتٌ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوهُمْ أَن تَطَئُوهُمْ فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنْهُم مَّعَرَّةٌ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۖ لِّيُدْخِلَ اللَّـهُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ لَوْ تَزَيَّلُوا لَعَذَّبْنَا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

[48:25] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

ये वही लोग तो है जिन्होंने इनकार किया और तुम्हें मस्जिदे हराम (काबा) से रोक दिया और क़ुरबानी के बँधे हुए जानवरों को भी इससे रोके रखा कि वे अपने ठिकाने पर पहुँचे। यदि यह ख़याल न होता कि बहुत-से मोमिन पुरुष और मोमिन स्त्रियाँ (मक्का में) मौजूद है, जिन्हें तुम नहीं जानते, उन्हें कुचल दोगे, फिर उनके सिलसिले में अनजाने तुमपर इल्ज़ाम आएगा (तो युद्ध की अनुमति दे दी जाती, अनुमति इसलिए नहीं दी गई) ताकि अल्लाह जिसे चाहे अपनी दयालुता में दाख़िल कर ले। यदि वे ईमानवाले अलग हो गए होते तो उनमें से जिन लोगों ने इनकार किया उनको हम अवश्य दुखद यातना देते

[48:25] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

ये वही लोग तो हैं जिन्होने कुफ़्र किया और तुमको मस्जिदुल हराम (में जाने) से रोका और क़ुरबानी के जानवरों को भी (न आने दिया) कि वह अपनी (मुक़र्रर) जगह (में) पहुँचने से रूके रहे और अगर कुछ ऐसे ईमानदार मर्द और ईमानदार औरतें न होती जिनसे तुम वाक़िफ न थे कि तुम उनको (लड़ाई में कुफ्फ़ार के साथ) पामाल कर डालते पस तुमको उनकी तरफ से बेख़बरी में नुकसान पहँच जाता (तो उसी वक्त तुमको फतेह हुई मगर ताख़ीर) इसलिए (हुई) कि ख़ुदा जिसे चाहे अपनी रहमत में दाख़िल करे और अगर वह (ईमानदार कुफ्फ़ार से) अलग हो जाते तो उनमें से जो लोग काफ़िर थे हम उन्हें दर्दनाक अज़ाब की ज़रूर सज़ा देते

[४८:२५] नीरज अत्री

ये वही लोग हैं जिन्होंने कुफ्र  (अल्लाह अकेला रब है, इसे नहीं माना) किया और तुम्हें मस्जिद उल हराम  (मक्का स्थित काबा) तथा बलि के पशुओं को  बलि के स्थान पर जाने से रोका था. यदि वहाँ ऐसे मुसलमान न होते जिन्हें तुम जानते नहीं थे और अनजाने में तुम्हारे द्वारा उन की हत्या हो जाने से तुम्हें पाप का भागी बनने का भय न होता तो, और यदि मुसलमान और काफिरों को पहचाना जा सकता तो हम ने यकीनन  उन्हें दंड दिया होता और पीड़ा से भरपूर यातना देते.

[48:25] Asad

[It was not for your enemies sake that He stayed your hands from them: for] it was they who were bent on denying the truth, and who debarred you from the Inviolable House of Worship and prevented your offering from reaching its destina­tion. And had it not been for the believing men and believing women [in Mecca], whom you might have unwittingly trampled underfoot, and on whose account you might have become guilty, without knowing it, of a grievous wrong-: [had it not been for this, you would have been allowed to fight your way into the city: but you were forbidden to fight] so that [in time] God might admit to His grace whomever He wills. Had they [who deserve Our mercy and they whom We have condemned] been clearly discernible [to you], We would indeed have imposed grievous suffering [at your hands] on such of them as were bent on denying the truth.

[48:25] Pickthall

These it was who disbelieved and debarred you from the Inviolable Place of Worship, and debarred the offering from reaching its goal. And if it had not been for believing men and believing women, whom ye know not - lest ye should tread them under foot and thus incur guilt for them unknowingly; that Allah might bring into His mercy whom He will - If (the believers and the disbelievers) had been clearly separated We verily had punished those of them who disbelieved with painful punishment.

[48:25] Yusuf Ali

They are the ones who denied Revelation and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque and the sacrificial animals, detained from reaching their place of sacrifice. Had there not been believing men and believing women whom ye did not know that ye were trampling down and on whose account a crime would have accrued to you without (your) knowledge, (Allah would have allowed you to force your way, but He held back your hands) that He may admit to His Mercy whom He will. If they had been apart, We should certainly have punished the Unbelievers among them with a grievous Punishment.

This is another of those verses which tells that a Muslim commits a crime or is guilty if he kills another Muslim but killing others would not have been a crime or an act of guilt.

In the following verse, Allah tells Muslims that if you do not fight for Allah, he will replace you with those Muslims who are more willing to fight.

5:54

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَن يَرْتَدَّ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللَّـهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ يُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّـهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّـهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

[5:54] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

ऐ ईमानदारों तुममें से जो कोई अपने दीन से फिर जाएगा तो (कुछ परवाह नहीं फिर जाए) अनक़रीब ही ख़ुदा ऐसे लोगों को ज़ाहिर कर देगा जिन्हें ख़ुदा दोस्त रखता होगा और वह उसको दोस्त रखते होंगे ईमानदारों के साथ नर्म और मुन्किर (और) काफ़िरों के साथ सख्त ख़ुदा की राह में जेहाद करेंगे और किसी मलामत करने वाले की मलामत की कुछ परवाह न करेंगे ये ख़ुदा का फ़ज़ल (व करम) है वह जिसे चाहता हे देता है और ख़ुदा तो बड़ी गुन्जाइश वाला वाक़िफ़कार है

[5:54] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

ऐ ईमान लानेवालो! तुममें से जो कोई अपने धर्म से फिरेगा तो अल्लाह जल्द ही ऐसे लोगों को लाएगा जिनसे उसे प्रेम होगा और जो उससे प्रेम करेंगे। वे ईमानवालों के प्रति नरम और अविश्वासियों के प्रति कठोर होंगे। अल्लाह की राह में जी-तोड़ कोशिश करेंगे और किसी भर्त्सना करनेवाले की भर्त्सना से न डरेंगे। यह अल्लाह का उदार अनुग्रह है, जिसे चाहता है प्रदान करता है। अल्लाह बड़ी समाईवाला, सर्वज्ञ है

[5:54] Ahmed Raza Khan

O People who Believe! Whoever among you reneges from his religion, so Allah will soon bring a people who are His beloved ones and Allah is their beloved, lenient with the Muslims and stern towards disbelievers – they will strive in Allah’s cause, and not fear the criticism of any accuser; this is Allah’s munificence, He may give to whomever He wills; and Allah is the Most Capable, the All Knowing.

[5:54] Hilali & Khan

O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion (Islam), Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him; humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers, fighting in the Way of Allah, and never afraid of the blame of the blamers. That is the Grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.

[५:५४] नीरज अत्री

ऐ मुसलामानों! तुम में से जो भी अपने दीन  से पलट गया, अल्लाह उनके स्थान पर ऐसे लोगों को लाएगा जिन्हें वो प्रेम करता होगा और जो उसे प्रेम करते होंगे; वो मुसलामानों के प्रति उदार तथा काफिरों के प्रति क्रूर होंगे, अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद karen गे, और दोष का आरोप लगाने वालों के आरोप से भयभीत नहीं होंगे. यही अल्लाह की शान है जो वो उन्हें प्रदान करता है जिस पर उसकी इच्छा होती है. अल्लाह उसकी आवश्यकताओं के लिए पर्याप्त है और वो सब जानता है.

[5:54] Yusuf Ali

O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things.

Jihad is not only against Kaafirs but those Muslims also who do not fight for Allah because they are hypocrites (Munafiq). They are even worse then Kaafirs.

66:9

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ جَاهِدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

[66:9] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

ऐ रसूल काफ़िरों और मुनाफ़िकों से जेहाद करो और उन पर सख्ती करो और उनका ठिकाना जहन्नुम है और वह क्या बुरा ठिकाना है

ऐ नबी! इनकार करनेवालों और कपटाचारियों से जिहाद करो और उनके साथ सख़्ती से पेश आओ। उनका ठिकाना जहन्नम है और वह अन्ततः पहुँचने की बहुत बुरी जगह है

[66:9] Ahmed Raza Khan

O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), wage holy war against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be strict with them; and their destination is hell; and what a wretched outcome!

[६६:९] नीरज अत्री

ऐ नबी, काफिरों और मुनाफिकों से कठोर जिहाद करो, और उनके प्रति क्रूर रहो, उनका स्थान तो जहन्नुम  है, जो कि सब से बुरा स्थान है.

[66:9] Hilali & Khan

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be severe against them, their abode will be Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.

[66:9] Sarwar

Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be stern against them. Their dwelling will be hell fire, the most terrible fate.

Kill them in such a way that others may take a lesson.

8:57

فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

[8:57] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

तो अगर वह लड़ाई में तुम्हारे हाथे चढ़ जाएँ तो (ऐसी सख्त गोश्माली दो कि) उनके साथ साथ उन लोगों का तो अगर वह लड़ाई में तुम्हारे हत्थे चढ़ जाएं तो (ऐसी सजा दो की) उनके साथ उन लोगों को भी तितिर बितिर कर दो जो उन के पुश्त पर हो ताकि ये इबरत हासिल करें

[8:57] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

अतः यदि युद्ध में तुम उनपर क़ाबू पाओ, तो उनके साथ इस तरह पेश आओ कि उनके पीछेवाले भी भाग खड़े हों, ताकि वे शिक्षा ग्रहण करें

[8:57] Ahmed Raza Khan

So if you find them in battle, kill them in a manner which makes those behind them scamper back, in the hope that they may learn a lesson.

[८:५७] नीरज अत्री 
इसलिए यदि वो युद्ध में तुम्हारे कब्ज़े  में आ जाएँ, तो उन्हें ऐसा कष्टमयी दंड दो कि उनके पीछेवालों के लिए ये एक उदाहरण हो जाए.

[8:57] Hilali & Khan

So if you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may learn a lesson.

[8:57] Pickthall

If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember.

Kaafirs will never be able to defeat Muslims.

8:59

وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَبَقُوا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ

[८:५९] नीरज अत्री

और काफिरों को ये मत समझने दो कि वो आगे निकल सकते हैं (दंड से बच सकते हैं). वो स्वयं को (अल्लाह के दंड से) कभी नहीं बचा पायेंगे.

[8:59] Hilali & Khan

And let not those who disbelieve think that they can outstrip (escape from the punishment). Verily, they will never be able to save themselves (from Allah's Punishment).

[8:59] Pickthall

And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape.

[8:59] Sarwar

The unbelievers should not think that they can really escape Us or that they can never be defeated.

It was the duty of the prophet to motivate the Muslims for Jihad.

8:65

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ ۚ إِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَابِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّائَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ

[8:65] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

ऐ नबी! मोमिनों को जिहाद पर उभारो। यदि तुम्हारे बीस आदमी जमे होंगे, तो वे दो सौ पर प्रभावी होंगे और यदि तुमसे से ऐसे सौ होंगे तो वे इनकार करनेवालों में से एक हज़ार पर प्रभावी होंगे, क्योंकि वे नासमझ लोग है

[8:65] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

ऐ रसूल तुम मोमिनीन को जिहाद के वास्ते आमादा करो (वह घबराए नहीं ख़ुदा उनसे वायदा करता है कि) अगर तुम लोगों में के साबित क़दम रहने वाले बीस भी होगें तो वह दो सौ (काफिरों) पर ग़ालिब आ जायेगे और अगर तुम लोगों में से साबित कदम रहने वालों सौ होगें तो हज़ार (काफिरों) पर ग़ालिब आ जाएँगें इस सबब से कि ये लोग ना समझ हैं

[8:65] Ahmed Ali

O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; and if there are a hundred then they will vanquish a thousand unbelievers, for they are people devoid of understanding.

[८:६५] नीरज अत्री

ऐ नबी! मुसलामानों को जिहाद के लिए उकसाओ. यदि उन में बीस दृढ हैं तो वे दो सौ पर विजय पा लेंगे और यदि उन में सौ दृढ हैं तो वो हज़ार  पर विजय पा लेंगे क्योंकि वो (काफिर) बुद्धियुक्त नहीं हैं.

[8:65] Hilali & Khan

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty steadfast persons amongst you, they will overcome two hundred, and if there be a hundred steadfast persons they will overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are people who do not understand.

[8:65] Yusuf Ali

O Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.

Punishment to Kaafirs in Jihad gives joy to Muslims.

9:14-17

قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللَّـهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَيَتُوبُ اللَّـهُ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَاءُ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُوا وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللَّـهُ الَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّـهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِ وَلَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً ۚ وَاللَّـهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُوا مَسَاجِدَ اللَّـهِ شَاهِدِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِم بِالْكُفْرِ ۚ أُولَـٰئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَفِي النَّارِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ

[9:14] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

इनसे (बेख़ौफ (ख़तर) लड़ो ख़ुदा तुम्हारे हाथों उनकी सज़ा करेगा और उन्हें रूसवा करेगा और तुम्हें उन पर फतेह अता करेगा और ईमानदार लोगों के कलेजे ठन्डे करेगा

[9:15] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और उन मोनिनीन के दिल की क़ुदरतें जो (कुफ्फ़ार से पहुचॅती है) दफ़ा कर देगा और ख़ुदा जिसकी चाहे तौबा क़ुबूल करे और ख़ुदा बड़ा वाक़िफकार (और) हिकमत वाला है

[9:16] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

क्या तुमने ये समझ लिया है कि तुम (यूं ही) छोड़ दिए जाओगे और अभी तक तो ख़ुदा ने उन लोगों को मुमताज़ किया ही नहीं जो तुम में के (राहे ख़ुदा में) जिहाद करते हैं और ख़ुदा और उसके रसूल और मोमेनीन के सिवा किसी को अपना राज़दार दोस्त नहीं बनाते और जो कुछ भी तुम करते हो ख़ुदा उससे बाख़बर है

[9:17] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

मुशरेकीन का ये काम नहीं कि जब वह अपने कुफ़्र का ख़ुद इक़रार करते है तो ख़ुदा की मस्जिदों को (जाकर) आबाद करे यही वह लोग हैं जिनका किया कराया सब अकारत हुआ और ये लोग हमेशा जहन्नुम में रहेंगे

[9:14] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

उनसे लड़ो। अल्लाह तुम्हारे हाथों से उन्हें यातना देगा और उन्हें अपमानित करेगा और उनके मुक़ाबले में वह तुम्हारी सहायता करेगा। और ईमानवाले लोगों के दिलों का दुखमोचन करेगा;

[9:15] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

उनके दिलों का क्रोध मिटाएगा, अल्लाह जिसे चाहेगा, उसपर दया-दृष्टि डालेगा। अल्लाह सर्वज्ञ, तत्वदर्शी है

[9:16] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

क्या तुमने यह समझ रखा है कि तुम ऐसे ही छोड़ दिए जाओगे, हालाँकि अल्लाह ने अभी उन लोगों को छाँटा ही नहीं, जिन्होंने तुममें से जिहाद किया और अल्लाह और उसके रसूल और मोमिनों को छोड़कर किसी को घनिष्ठ मित्र नहीं बनाया? तुम जो कुछ भी करते हो, अल्लाह उसकी ख़बर रखता है

[9:17] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

यह मुशरिकों का काम नहीं कि वे अल्लाह की मस्जिदों को आबाद करें और उसके प्रबंधक हों, जबकि वे स्वयं अपने विरुद्ध कुफ़्र की गवाही दे रहे है। उन लोगों का सारा किया-धरा अकारथ गया और वे आग में सदैव रहेंगे

[९:१४] नीरज अत्री
उनसे युद्ध करो ताकि अल्लाह तुम्हारा साथ दे कर तुम्हारे हाथों से उन्हें अपमानित करे और यातनाएं दे और मोम्मिनों  के मन को शान्ति प्राप्त हो.
[९:१५] नीरज अत्री

और उनके (मोम्मिनों के) ह्रदय को संतोष मिले. अल्लाह उन्हीं का पश्चाताप स्वीकार करता है जिसे वो चाहता है. अल्लाह सब जानने वाला हाकिम है.
 [९:१६] नीरज अत्री

तुम्हें क्या लगता है कि बिना तुम्हारी जांच किये कि, तुम में से किन्होने जिहाद किया और लड़े और अल्लाह, उसके रुसूल और मोम्मिनों के अतिरिक्त किसी को वालिजाह  (काफिरों और मूर्ती पूजकों में से सहायक तथा मंत्रणा करने वाले)  नहीं रखा, यूं ही छोड़ दिया जाएगा. अल्लाह उस सब से वाकिफ  है जो तुम करते हो. 

[९:१७] नीरज अत्री 

मुशरिकों (देवी देवताओं को मानने वालों, मूर्ती पूजा करने वालों, अल्लाह को एकमात्र रब न मानने वालों) का ये अधिकार नहीं है कि वो अल्लाह की मस्जिद  का रख रखाव (अल्लाह की नमाज़ और उस भवन की साफ़ सफाई) करें, जबकि वे स्वयं ही अपने अविश्वास के साक्षी हैं. ऐसे व्यक्तियों का कार्य निष्फल ही जाएगा और उनका ठिकाना तो आग ही है.

[9:14] Shakir

Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace, and assist you against them and heal the hearts of a believing people.

[9:15] Shakir

And remove the rage of their hearts; and Allah turns (mercifully) to whom He pleases, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

[9:16] Shakir

What! do you think that you will be left alone while Allah has not yet known those of you who have struggled hard and have not taken any one as an adherent besides Allah and His Apostle and the believers; and Allah is aware of what you do.

[9:17] Shakir

The idolaters have no right to visit the mosques of Allah while bearing witness to unbelief against themselves, these it is whose doings are null, and in the fire shall they abide.

Those who participate in Jihad (are called Mujahids), their rank is much higher then those who serve the Haj travelers.

9:19-20

أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّـهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَجَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوُونَ عِندَ اللَّـهِ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ اللَّـهِ ۚ وَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ

[9:19] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

क्या तुम लोगों ने हाजियों की सक़ाई (पानी पिलाने वाले) और मस्जिदुल हराम (ख़ानाए काबा की आबादियों को उस शख़्स के हमसर (बराबर) बना दिया है जो ख़ुदा और रोज़े आख़ेरत के दिन पर ईमान लाया और ख़ुदा के राह में जेहाद किया ख़ुदा के नज़दीक तो ये लोग बराबर नहीं और खुदा ज़ालिम लोगों की हिदायत नहीं करता है

[9:20] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

जिन लोगों ने ईमान क़ुबूल किया और (ख़ुदा के लिए) हिजरत एख्तियार की और अपने मालों से और अपनी जानों से ख़ुदा की राह में जिहाद किया वह लोग ख़ुदा के नज़दीक दर्जें में कही बढ़ कर हैं और यही लोग (आला दर्जे पर) फायज़ होने वाले हैं

[9:19] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

क्या तुमने हाजियों को पानी पिलाने और मस्जिदे हराम (काबा) के प्रबंध को उस क्यक्ति के काम के बराबर ठहरा लिया है, जो अल्लाह और अंतिम दिन पर ईमान लाया और उसने अल्लाह के मार्ग में संघर्ष किया?अल्लाह की दृष्टि में वे बराबर नहीं। और अल्लाह अत्याचारी लोगों को मार्ग नहीं दिखाता

[9:20] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

जो लोग ईमान लाए और उन्होंने हिजरत की और अल्लाह के मार्ग में अपने मालों और अपनी जानों से जिहाद किया, अल्लाह के यहाँ दर्जे में वे बहुत बड़े है और वही सफल है

[9:19] Ahmed Raza Khan

So have they taken the quenching of the pilgrims’ thirst and servicing of the Sacred Mosque as equal (in merit) to him who accepted faith in Allah and the Last Day, and fought in Allah’s way? They are not equal before Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust.

[9:20] Ahmed Raza Khan

Those who accepted faith, and left their homes and fought with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way have a greater rank before Allah; and it is they who have succeeded.

[९:१९] नीरज अत्री

क्या तुम्हें लगता है कि हाजियों (हज यात्रा करने वालों) की पानी पिला कर सेवा करना अथवा मक्का की मस्जिद उल हराम  की व्यवस्था देखना उसके समान है जिन्होंने जिहाद किया, अल्लाह और क़यामत के दिन पर विश्वास किया और अल्लाह के मार्ग में लड़ाई की? नहीं, वो अल्लाह की दृष्टि में समान नहीं हैं.  और अल्लाह उनका मार्गदर्शन नहीं करता जो ज़ालिम (एक से अधिक देवी देवताओं की अराधना करने वाले और अन्य भूलें करने वाले) हैं.
 [९:२०] नीरज अत्री

जिन्होंने इस बात में विश्वास किया कि अल्लाह ही एकमात्र रब है, हिजरत  की और अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद करते हुए अपने प्राणों और धन के साथ लड़े, उनकी श्रेणी अल्लाह की दृष्टि में कहीं ऊँची है. वे ही सफल हैं.

It is the duty of every Muslim to participate in Jihad, even if some of them do not like it.

2:216

كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَن تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

[2:216] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

(मुसलमानों) तुम पर जिहाद फर्ज क़िया गया अगरचे तुम पर शाक़ ज़रुर है और अजब नहीं कि तुम किसी चीज़ (जिहाद) को नापसन्द करो हालॉकि वह तुम्हारे हक़ में बेहतर हो और अजब नहीं कि तुम किसी चीज़ को पसन्द करो हालॉकि वह तुम्हारे हक़ में बुरी हो और ख़ुदा (तो) जानता ही है मगर तुम नही जानते हो

[2:216] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

तुम पर युद्ध अनिवार्य किया गया और वह तुम्हें अप्रिय है, और बहुत सम्भव है कि कोई चीज़ तुम्हें अप्रिय हो और वह तुम्हारे लिए अच्छी हो। और बहुत सम्भव है कि कोई चीज़ तुम्हें प्रिय हो और वह तुम्हारे लिए बुरी हो। और जानता अल्लाह है, और तुम नहीं जानते।"

[2:216] Ahmed Raza Khan

Fighting in Allah's cause is ordained for you, whereas it is disliked by you; and it is possible that you hate a thing which is better for you; and it is possible that you like a thing which is bad for you; and Allah knows, and you do not know.

[२:२१६] नीरज अत्री

तुम्हें भले ही ये रुचिकर न लगे किन्तु जिहाद तुम्हारे (मुसलामानों के) लिए फ़र्ज़ (अनिवार्य कर्त्तव्य) घोषित किया गया है. ऐसा संभव है कि तुम किसी कार्य को बुरा जानो जब कि वो तुम्हारे लिए लाभप्रद हो और तुम्हें कोई ऐसा कार्य रुचिकर लगे जो तुम्हारे लिए हानिकारक हो. तुम नहीं जानते किन्तु अल्लाह तो सब जानता ही है.

[2:216] Hilali & Khan

Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.

[2:216] Qaribullah & Darwish

(Offensive) fighting is obligatory for you, though it is hateful to you. But you may hate a thing although it is good for you, and may love a thing although it is evil for you. Allah knows, and you do not.

For Jihad, go light armed or heavy armed.

9:41

انفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا وَجَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

[9:41] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

(मुसलमानों) तुम हलके फुलके (हॅसते) हो या भारी भरकम (मसलह) बहर हाल जब तुमको हुक्म दिया जाए फौरन चल खड़े हो और अपनी जानों से अपने मालों से ख़ुदा की राह में जिहाद करो अगर तुम (कुछ जानते हो तो) समझ लो कि यही तुम्हारे हक़ में बेहतर है

[9:41] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

हलके और बोझिल निकल पड़ो और अल्लाह के मार्ग में अपने मालों और अपनी जानों के साथ जिहाद करो! यही तुम्हारे लिए उत्तम है, यदि तुम जानो

[9:41] Pickthall

Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.

[९:४१] नीरज अत्री

भले ही तुम हलके (स्वस्थ, युवा एवं धनवान) हो अथवा भारी (अस्वस्थ, वृद्ध अथवा निर्धन) हो, अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद के लिए अपने धन और जीवन के साथ ही बढे जाओ. इसी में तुम्हारी भलाई है, यदि तुम जानो तो.

[9:41] Yusuf Ali

Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons, in the cause of Allah. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.

In the above verse, the translation by Pickthall and Yusuf Ali seem to make sense.

Jihad means kill the Kaafirs. And the communists, Marxists and apologists of Islam claim that Jihad is an allegorical war to be fought within your mind.

25:52

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَجَاهِدْهُم بِهِ جِهَادًا كَبِيرًا ﴿٥٢﴾

[25:52] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

अतः इनकार करनेवालों की बात न मानता और इस (क़ुरआन) के द्वारा उनसे जिहाद करो, बड़ा जिहाद! (जी तोड़ कोशिश)

(तो ऐ रसूल) तुम काफिरों की इताअत न करना और उनसे कुरान के (दलाएल) से खूब लड़ों

So do not listen to the disbelievers and, with this Qur’an, fight a great war against them.

[२५:५२] नीरज अत्री

इसलिए काफिरों का कहा मत मानो और अपनी पूर्ण योग्यता से कुरआन द्वारा उन से जिहाद करो.

[25:52] Maududi

So, O Prophet, do not yield to the disbelievers, but wage a Jihad against them with this Qur'an.

[25:52] Qaribullah & Darwish

So do not obey the unbelievers, but struggle mightily with it (the Koran).

Those who propagate the myth that Quran does not talk about Jihad, the above verse flies in their face.

Those who die in Jihad are called Shaheed and rank even higher then Mujahids.

3:156

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَاتَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَقَالُوا لِإِخْوَانِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوْكَانُوا غُزًّى لَّوْ كَانُوا عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُوا وَمَا قُتِلُوا لِيَجْعَلَ اللَّـهُ ذَٰلِكَحَسْرَةً فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

[3:156] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

ऐ ईमानदारों उन लोगों के ऐसे न बनो जो काफ़िर हो गए भाई बन्द उनके परदेस में निकले हैं या जेहाद करने गए हैं (और वहॉ) मर (गए) तो उनके बारे में कहने लगे कि वह हमारे पास रहते तो न मरते ओर न मारे जाते (और ये इस वजह से कहते हैं) ताकि ख़ुदा (इस ख्याल को) उनके दिलों में (बाइसे) हसरत बना दे और (यूं तो) ख़ुदा ही जिलाता और मारता है और जो कुछ तुम करते हो ख़ुदा उसे देख रहा है

[3:156] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

ऐ ईमान लानेवालो! उन लोगों की तरह न हो जाना जिन्होंने इनकार किया और अपने भाईयों के विषय में, जबकि वे सफ़र में गए हों या युद्ध में हो (और उनकी वहाँ मृत्यु हो जाए तो) कहते है, "यदि वे हमारे पास होते तो न मरते और न क़त्ल होते।" (ऐसी बातें तो इसलिए होती है) ताकि अल्लाह उनको उनके दिलों में घर करनेवाला पछतावा और सन्ताप बना दे। अल्लाह ही जीवन प्रदान करने और मृत्यु देनेवाला है। और तुम जो कुछ भी कर रहे हो वह अल्लाह की स्पष्ट में है

[३:१५६] नीरज अत्री

ऐ ईमान वालो! उन काफिरों की भांति मत बनो जो जिहाद पर जाने वालों के संबंध में अपने प्रियजनों से कहते हैं,"यदि वो लोग हमारे साथ रुके होते तो मारे नहीं जाते". ऐसा न हो कि अल्लाह उनके ह्रदय को हताशा से भर दे; अल्लाह ही जीवन और मृत्यु देने वाला है और अल्लाह तुम्हारे कर्म देख रहा है.

[3:156] Ahmed Raza Khan

O People who Believe! Do not be like the disbelievers who said regarding their brothers who went on a journey or on holy war, “If they had been here with us they would not have died or been killed” – so that Allah may make it as despair in their hearts; and Allah gives life and causes death; and Allah is seeing your deeds.

[3:156] Daryabadi

O O Ye who believe! be not like unto those who disbelieve and say of their brethren when they journey in the land or go to religious war: had they been with, they had not died nor had they been slain; this is in order that Allah may cause an anguish in their hearts. And it is Allah who maketh alive and causeth to die, and Allah is of that which ye work Beholder.

[3:156] Maududi

Believers, do not behave like those who disbelieved and say to their brothers (who meet some mishap) in the course of their journey for fighting: 'Had they remained with us, they would not have died nor been slain.' Allah makes such thoughts the cause of deep regrets in their hearts. For in truth it is Allah alone who grants life and deals death. Allah sees all that you do.

Allah favors only Muslims and hates Kaafirs.

4:84

فَقَاتِلْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفْسَكَ ۚ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ عَسَى اللَّـهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ وَاللَّـهُ أَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا

 [4:84] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

पस (ऐ रसूल) तुम ख़ुदा की राह में जिहाद करो और तुम अपनी ज़ात के सिवा किसी और के ज़िम्मेदार नहीं हो और ईमानदारों को (जेहाद की) तरग़ीब दो और अनक़रीब ख़ुदा काफ़िरों की हैबत रोक देगा और ख़ुदा की हैबत सबसे ज्यादा है और उसकी सज़ा बहुत सख्त है

[4:84] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

अतः अल्लाह के मार्ग में युद्ध करो - तुमपर तो बस तुम्हारी अपनी ही ज़िम्मेदारी है - और ईमानवालों की कमज़ोरियो को दूर करो और उन्हें (युद्ध के लिए) उभारो। इसकी बहुत सम्भावना है कि अल्लाह इनकार करनेवालों के ज़ोर को रोक लगा दे। अल्लाह बड़ा ज़ोरवाला और कठोर दंड देनेवाला है

[4:84] Ahmed Raza Khan

Therefore O dear Prophet, fight in Allah's cause; you will not be burdened except for yourself, and urge the believers (to fight); it is likely that Allah will curb the strength of the disbelievers; and Allah's strike is most stinging and His punishment the most severe.

[४:८४] नीरज अत्री 

इसलिए (ऐ मोहम्मद) अल्लाह के कारण जिहाद करो, तुम अपने अतिरिक्त किसी और के प्रति उत्तरदायी नहीं हो, मुसलामानों को भी (अपने साथ साथ युद्ध के लिए) उकसाओ. ऐसा संभव है कि अल्लाह काफिरों के दुष्ट बल को रोक दे. अल्लाह बलवानों से भी बलशाली है और दंड देने में भी बलवान है.

[4:84] Shakir

Fight then in Allah's way; this is not imposed on you except In relation to yourself, and rouse the believers to ardor maybe Allah will restrain the fighting of those who disbelieve and Allah is strongest in prowess and strongest to give an exemplary punishment.

Mujahids are doers of good hence Allah is with them.

29:69

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

[29:69] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और जिन लोगों ने हमारी राह में जिहाद किया उन्हें हम ज़रुर अपनी राह की हिदायत करेंगे और इसमें शक नही कि ख़ुदा नेकोकारों का साथी है

रहे वे लोग जिन्होंने हमारे मार्ग में मिलकर प्रयास किया, हम उन्हें अवश्य अपने मार्ग दिखाएँगे। निस्संदेह अल्लाह सुकर्मियों के साथ है

[२९:६९] नीरज अत्री 

और हम उन्हें उचित मार्गदर्शन देंगे (अर्थात इस्लाम का मार्ग दिखाएंगे) जो कि हम में से दृढ़ता से जिहाद करेंगे. क्योंकि अल्लाह तो मोह्सिनों (शुभ कर्म करने वालों) का साथी है.

[29:69] Maududi

As for those who strive in Our cause, We shall surely guide them to Our Ways. Indeed Allah is with those who do good.

[29:69] Shakir

And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them in Our ways; and Allah is most surely with the doers of good.

Not only money but lives of Muslims are also to be spent on Jihad.

61:11

تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

[61:11] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

तुम्हें ईमान लाना है अल्लाह और उसके रसूल पर, और जिहाद करना है अल्लाह के मार्ग में अपने मालों और अपनी जानों से। यही तुम्हारे लिए उत्तम है, यदि तुम जानो

[61:11] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

(वह ये है कि) ख़ुदा और उसके रसूल पर ईमान लाओ और अपने माल व जान से ख़ुदा की राह में जेहाद करो अगर तुम समझो तो यही तुम्हारे हक़ में बेहतर है

Ye should believe in Allah and His messenger, and should strive for the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if ye did but know.

[६१:११] नीरज अत्री 

कि तुम अल्लाह और उसके पैगम्बर (मोहम्मद) पर विश्वास करो, अपने जान और माल से अल्लाह के मार्ग पर जिहाद करो, यही तुम्हारे लिए श्रेष्ठ होगा, काश कि तुम ये सच जानते.

[61:11] Shakir

You shall believe in Allah and His Apostle, and struggle hard in Allah's way with your property and your lives; that is better for you, did you but know!

Only those are true Muslims who participate in Jihad and spend their money and lives for this holy war.

49:15

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ ۚ أُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ

[49:15] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

मोमिन तो बस वही लोग है जो अल्लाह और उसके रसूल पर ईमान लाए, फिर उन्होंने कोई सन्देह नहीं किया और अपने मालों और अपनी जानों से अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद किया। वही लोग सच्चे है

[49:15] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

(सच्चे मोमिन) तो बस वही हैं जो ख़ुदा और उसके रसूल पर ईमान लाए फिर उन्होंने उसमें किसी तरह का शक़ शुबह न किया और अपने माल से और अपनी जानों से ख़ुदा की राह में जेहाद किया यही लोग (दावाए ईमान में) सच्चे हैं

[49:15] Daryabadi

The believers are only those who believed in Allah and His apostle and thereafter doubted not, and strave with their riches and their persons in the cause of Allah. Those! they are the truthful.

[४९:१५] नीरज अत्री

मुसलमान तो केवल वही हैं, जो अल्लाह और उसके रुसूल पर विश्वास रखते हैं और अल्लाह की राह में अपने जान और अपने धन से जिहाद करते हैं. केवल वही सच्चे हैं.

[49:15] Hilali & Khan

Only those are the believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and afterward doubt not but strive with their wealth and their lives for the Cause of Allah. Those! They are the truthful.

[49:15] Sarwar

The believers are those who believe in God and His Messenger, who do not change their belief into doubt and who strive hard for the cause of God with their property and persons. They are the truthful ones".

If a Muslim kills a Kaafir, Allah rewards him but if he kills a Muslim knowingly then he goes to hell. And the history books of India say that Islam is a secular religion which talks of universal brotherhood without discrimination.

4:92-95

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَأً ۚ وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَأً فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ إِلَّا أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا ۚ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ اللَّـهِ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّـهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَىٰ إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ اللَّـهِ مَغَانِمُ كَثِيرَةٌ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كُنتُم مِّن قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللَّـهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُوا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا

لَّا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ فَضَّلَ اللَّـهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّـهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَفَضَّلَ اللَّـهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

[4:92] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और किसी ईमानदार को ये जायज़ नहीं कि किसी मोमिन को जान से मार डाले मगर धोखे से (क़त्ल किया हो तो दूसरी बात है) और जो शख्स किसी मोमिन को धोखे से (भी) मार डाले तो (उसपर) एक ईमानदार गुलाम का आज़ाद करना और मक़तूल के क़राबतदारों को खूंन बहा देना (लाज़िम) है मगर जब वह लोग माफ़ करें फिर अगर मक़तूल उन लोगों में से हो वह जो तुम्हारे दुशमन (काफ़िर हरबी) हैं और ख़ुद क़ातिल मोमिन है तो (सिर्फ) एक मुसलमान ग़ुलाम का आज़ाद करना और अगर मक़तूल उन (काफ़िर) लोगों में का हो जिनसे तुम से एहद व पैमान हो चुका है तो (क़ातिल पर) वारिसे मक़तूल को ख़ून बहा देना और एक बन्दए मोमिन का आज़ाद करना (वाजिब) है फ़िर जो शख्स (ग़ुलाम आज़ाद करने को) न पाये तो उसका कुफ्फ़ारा ख़ुदा की तरफ़ से लगातार दो महीने के रोज़े हैं और ख़ुदा ख़ूब वाकिफ़कार (और) हिकमत वाला है

 [4:93] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और जो शख्स किसी मोमिन को जानबूझ के मार डाले (ग़ुलाम की आज़ादी वगैरह उसका कुफ्फ़ारा नहीं बल्कि) उसकी सज़ा दोज़क है और वह उसमें हमेशा रहेगा उसपर ख़ुदा ने (अपना) ग़ज़ब ढाया है और उसपर लानत की है और उसके लिए बड़ा सख्त अज़ाब तैयार कर रखा है

[4:94] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

ऐ ईमानदारों जब तुम ख़ुदा की राह में (जेहाद करने को) सफ़र करो तो (किसी के क़त्ल करने में जल्दी न करो बल्कि) अच्छी तरह जॉच कर लिया करो और जो शख्स (इज़हारे इस्लाम की ग़रज़ से) तुम्हे सलाम करे तो तुम बे सोचे समझे न कह दिया करो कि तू ईमानदार नहीं है (इससे ज़ाहिर होता है) कि तुम (फ़क्त) दुनियावी आसाइश की तमन्ना रखते हो मगर इसी बहाने क़त्ल करके लूट लो और ये नहीं समझते कि (अगर यही है) तो ख़ुदा के यहॉ बहुत से ग़नीमतें हैं (मुसलमानों) पहले तुम ख़ुद भी तो ऐसे ही थे फिर ख़ुदा ने तुमपर एहसान किया (कि बेखटके मुसलमान हो गए) ग़रज़ ख़ूब छानबीन कर लिया करो बेशक ख़ुदा तुम्हारे हर काम से ख़बरदार है

[4:95] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

माज़ूर लोगों के सिवा जेहाद से मुंह छिपा के घर में बैठने वाले और ख़ुदा की राह में अपने जान व माल से जिहाद करने वाले हरगिज़ बराबर नहीं हो सकते (बल्कि) अपने जान व माल से जिहाद करने वालों को घर बैठे रहने वालें पर ख़ुदा ने दरजे के एतबार से बड़ी फ़ज़ीलत दी है (अगरचे) ख़ुदा ने सब ईमानदारों से (ख्वाह जिहाद करें या न करें) भलाई का वायदा कर लिया है मगर ग़ाज़ियों को खाना नशीनों पर अज़ीम सवाब के एतबार से ख़ुदा ने बड़ी फ़ज़ीलत दी है

[4:92] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

किसी ईमानवाले का यह काम नहीं कि वह किसी ईमानवाले का हत्या करे, भूल-चूक की बात और है। और यदि कोई क्यक्ति यदि ग़लती से किसी ईमानवाले की हत्या कर दे, तो एक मोमिन ग़ुलाम को आज़ाद करना होगा और अर्थदंड उस (मारे गए क्यक्ति) के घरवालों को सौंपा जाए। यह और बात है कि वे अपनी ख़ुशी से छोड़ दें। और यदि वह उन लोगों में से हो, जो तुम्हारे शत्रु हों और वह (मारा जानेवाला) स्वयं मोमिन रहा तो एक मोमिन को ग़ुलामी से आज़ाद करना होगा। और यदि वह उन लोगों में से हो कि तुम्हारे और उनके बीच कोई संधि और समझौता हो, तो अर्थदंड उसके घरवालों को सौंपा जाए और एक मोमिन को ग़ुलामी से आज़ाद करना होगा। लेकिन जो (ग़ुलाम) न पाए तो वह निरन्तर दो मास के रोज़े रखे। यह अल्लाह की ओर से निश्चित किया हुआ उसकी तरफ़ पलट आने का तरीक़ा है। अल्लाह तो सब कुछ जाननेवाला, तत्वदर्शी है

[4:93] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

और जो व्यक्ति जान-बूझकर किसी मोमिन की हत्या करे, तो उसका बदला जहन्नम है, जिसमें वह सदा रहेगा; उसपर अल्लाह का प्रकोप और उसकी फिटकार है और उसके लिए अल्लाह ने बड़ी यातना तैयार कर रखी है

[4:94] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

ऐ ईमान लानेवालो! जब तुम अल्लाह के मार्ग से निकलो तो अच्छी तरह पता लगा लो और जो तुम्हें सलाम करे, उससे यह न कहो कि तुम ईमान नहीं रखते, और इससे तुम्हारा ध्येय यह हो कि सांसारिक जीवन का माल प्राप्त करो। अल्लाह ने तुमपर उपकार किया, जो अच्छी तरह पता लगा लिया करो। जो कुछ तुम करते हो अल्लाह उसकी पूरी ख़बर रखता है

[4:95] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

ईमानवालों में से वे लोग जो बिना किसी कारण के बैठे रहते है और जो अल्लाह के मार्ग में अपने धन और प्राणों के साथ जी-तोड़ कोशिश करते है, दोनों समान नहीं हो सकते। अल्लाह ने बैठे रहनेवालों की अपेक्षा अपने धन और प्राणों से जी-तोड़ कोशिश करनेवालों का दर्जा बढ़ा रखा है। यद्यपि प्रत्यके के लिए अल्लाह ने अच्छे बदले का वचन दिया है। परन्तु अल्लाह ने जी-तोड़ कोशिश करनेवालों का बड़ा बदला रखा है

[4:92] Maududi

It is not for a believer to slay another believer unless by mistake. And he who has slain a believer by mistake, his atonement is to set free from bondage a believing person and to pay blood-money to his heirs, unless they forgo it by way of charity. And if the slain belonged to a hostile people, but was a believer, then the atonement is to set free from bondage a believing person. And if the slain belonged to a (non-Muslim) people with whom you have a covenant, then the atonement is to pay the blood-money to his heirs, and to set free from bondage a believing person. But he who cannot (free a slave) should fast for two consecutive months. This is the penance ordained by Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

 [4:93] Maududi

And he who slays a believer wilfully his reward is Hell, where he will abide. Allah's wrath is against him and He has cast His curse upon him, and has prepared for him a great chastisement.

 [4:94] Maududi

Believers! When you go forth in the way of Allah, discern (between friend and foe), and do not say to him who offers you the greeting of peace: 'You are not a believer.' If you seek the good of this worldly life, there lies with Allah abundant gain. After all, you too were such before, and then Allah was gracious to you. Discern, then, for Allah is well aware of what you do.

 [4:95] Maududi

Those believers who sit at home, unless they do so out of a disabling injury, are not the equals of those who strive in the way of Allah with their possessions and their lives. Allah has exalted in rank those who strive with their possessions and their lives over those who sit at home; and though to each Allah has promised some good reward, He has preferred those who strive (in the way of Allah) over those who sit at home for a mighty reward.

[4:92] Sarwar

A believer cannot slay another believer except by mistake for which the retaliation is to set free a believing slave and pay the appointed blood money to the relatives of the deceased unless the relatives wave aside the payment. If the person slain is from your enemies but himself is a believer, the penalty is to set free a believing slave. If the person slain is one of those with whom you have a peace treaty, the penalty is the same as that for a slain believer. If this is not possible, the defendant has to fast for two consecutive months, asking God to accept his repentance. He is All-knowing and All-wise.

[4:93] Sarwar

The punishment for one who purposely slays a believer will be to live in hell fire forever. God is angry with him and has condemned him. He has prepared for him a great torment.

[4:94] Sarwar

Believers, if you march with arms for the cause of God, make sure that you know whom to fight. Do not accuse anyone who claims himself to be a Muslim of disbelief just for worldly gains. There is abundant bounty with God. Before, you were also like them, but God bestowed His favors upon you. Thus, make sure that you know whom to fight. God is Well Aware of what you do.

[4:95] Sarwar

Among the believers, those who stay at home without a good reason are not equal to those who strive for the cause of God in person or with their property. To those who strive for His cause in person or with their property, God has granted a higher rank than to those who stay at home. God has promised that everyone will receive his proper share of the reward but He will grant a much greater reward to those striving for His cause than to those who stay home (for no reason).

मोम्मिनों  के लिए ये उचित नहीं है कि वो किसीमोम्मिन  की हत्या करें, यदि किसी भ्रान्ति से मुसलमान की हत्या हो जाए तो उस के लिए आदेश है कि एक मुसलमान गुलाम  को मुक्त कर दे तथा मृतक के प्रियजनों को दिया (हत्या करने का धन) दे. यदि वे स्वेच्छा से न लें तो कोई हानि नहीं. यदि मृतक मुसलमान हो और तुम से युद्ध करने वालों के साथ हो तो एक मुसलमान गुलाम  को मुक्त करने का आदेश है, और यदि वो उन लोगों से सम्बद्ध था जिन से तुम्हारी परस्पर सहयोग की संधि हो तो उसके प्रियजनों को दिया  दो और एक मुसलमान गुलाम  को मुक्त करो. और यदि कोई ऐसा नहीं कर पाता तो उसे चाहिए कि दो माह तक उपवास करे ताकि अल्लाह से क्षमा मांग सके. अल्लाह सब जानने वाला समझदार है.
[४:९३] नीरज अत्री
और यदि कोई जान बूझ कर किसी मुसलमान की हत्या करता है तो उसे नर्क की आग में ही स्थान मिलेगा और उस पर अल्लाह का प्रकोप और धिक्कार होगा. उसके लिए एक घोर दंड का आयोजन है.
[4:९४] नीरज अत्री
ओ मुसलामानों! जब जिहाद पर निकलो तो जो तुम्हें सलाम  कर रहें हों, उन्हें वस्तुओं के लोभ में आ कर ये मत कहो,"तुम तो काफिर हो". अल्लाह के पास और बहुत सा वैभव है जो तुम्हें प्राप्त होगा. पहले तुम भी ऐसे ही थे जब अल्लाह ने तुम्हें उचित मार्ग (इस्लाम) के लिए नहीं चुना था. इसलिए भेद भाव करते समय सावधान रहा करो. अल्लाह सब जानता है कि तुम क्या करते हो.
[४:९५] नीरज अत्री 
जो मुसलमान शारीरिक रूप से समर्थ नहीं हैं (नेत्रहीन अथवा लंगड़े इत्यादि) और फिर भी घर में बैठे हैं वो उनके समान नहीं हो सकते जिन्होंने अल्लाह की राह में अपने धन और जान से जिहाद किया है. अल्लाह ने घर बैठने वालों के बनिस्पत उन्हें उच्च श्रेणी के लिए चुना है जिन्होंने जम कर अपने जान और माल से जिहाद किया है. अल्लाह सब को स्वर्ग में भेजेगा परन्तु जिन्होंने जिहाद किया है, उनके लिए विशेष पुरूस्कार है.

[4:92] Hilali & Khan

It is not for a believer to kill a believer except (that it be) by mistake, and whosoever kills a believer by mistake, (it is ordained that) he must set free a believing slave and a compensation (blood money, i.e. Diya) be given to the deceased's family, unless they remit it. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you and he was a believer; the freeing of a believing slave (is prescribed), and if he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, compensation (blood money - Diya) must be paid to his family, and a believing slave must be freed. And whoso finds this (the penance of freeing a slave) beyond his means, he must fast for two consecutive months in order to seek repentance from Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.

[4:93] Hilali & Khan

And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein, and the Wrath and the Curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him.

[4:94] Hilali & Khan

O you who believe! When you go (to fight) in the Cause of Allah, verify (the truth), and say not to anyone who greets you (by embracing Islam): "You are not a believer"; seeking the perishable goods of the worldly life. There are much more profits and booties with Allah. Even as he is now, so were you yourselves before till Allah conferred on you His Favours (i.e. guided you to Islam), therefore, be cautious in discrimination. Allah is Ever Well-Aware of what you do.

[4:95] Hilali & Khan

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward;

Those who do not march in the way of Allah, are to be scolded.

9:38

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ انفِرُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ اثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ۚ أَرَضِيتُم بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ ۚ فَمَا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ

[9:38] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

ऐ ईमान लानेवालो! तुम्हें क्या हो गया है कि जब तुमसे कहा जाता है, "अल्लाह के मार्ग में निकलो" तो तुम धरती पर ढहे जाते हो? क्या तुम आख़िरत की अपेक्षा सांसारिक जीवन पर राज़ी हो गए? सांसारिक जीवन की सुख-सामग्री तो आख़िरत के हिसाब में है कुछ थोड़ी ही!

[9:38] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

ऐ ईमानदारों तुम्हें क्या हो गया है कि जब तुमसे कहा जाता है कि ख़ुदा की राह में (जिहाद के लिए) निकलो तो तुम लदधड़ (ढीले) हो कर ज़मीन की तरफ झुके पड़ते हो क्या तुम आख़िरत के बनिस्बत दुनिया की (चन्द रोज़ा) जिन्दगी को पसन्द करते थे तो (समझ लो कि) दुनिया की ज़िन्दगी का साज़ो सामान (आख़िर के) ऐश व आराम के मुक़ाबले में बहुत ही थोड़ा है

[9:38] Qaribullah

Believers, why is it that when it is said to you: 'March in the Way of Allah' you linger with heaviness in the land? Are you content with this life rather than theEverlasting Life? Yet the enjoyment of this life in (comparison to) the Everlasting Life is little.

[९:३८] नीरज अत्री

ओ मुसलामानों! तुम्हें क्या हो गया है, जब तुम्हें अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद करने के लिए निकलने को कहा जाए तो तुम पृथ्वी पर गिरे जाते हो? क्या तुम इस जीवन से प्रसन्न हो कर रहोगे और इसके पश्चात क्या होगा उसे नहीं सोचते? किन्तु इस जीवन के आनंद से अधिक आनंद इस के पश्चात मिलने वाला है.

[9:38] Hilali & Khan

O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allah (i.e. Jihad) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter.

[9:38] Sarwar

Believers, why is it that when you are told to march for the cause of God, you seem to linger at home. Have you given preference to the worldly life over the life hereafter? The worldly gains compared to those of the next life are but very little.

Allah ensures provision for those who participate in fighting.

8:74

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ وَالَّذِينَ آوَوا وَّنَصَرُوا أُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا ۚ لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ

[8:74] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और जिन लोगों ने ईमान क़ुबूल किया और हिजरत की और ख़ुदा की राह में लड़े भिड़े और जिन लोगों ने (ऐसे नाज़ुक वक्त में मुहाजिरीन को जगह ही और उनकी हर तरह ख़बरगीरी (मदद) की यही लोग सच्चे ईमानदार हैं उन्हीं के वास्ते मग़फिरत और इज्ज़त व आबरु वाली रोज़ी है

[8:74] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

और जो लोग ईमान लाए और उन्होंने हिजरत की और अल्लाह के मार्ग में जिहाद किया और जिन लोगों ने उन्हें शरण दी और सहायता की वही सच्चे मोमिन हैं। उनके क्षमा और सम्मानित - उत्तम आजीविका है

[8:74] Ahmed Ali

Those who accepted the faith and abandoned their homes, and struggled in the cause of God, and those who gave them shelter and helped them, are veritably true believers. For them is forgiveness and noble sustenance.

[८:७४] नीरज अत्री

जो ईमान वाले हैं, जिन्होंने हिजरत  की और अल्लाह के राह में डट कर जिहाद किया, और जिन्होंने उन्हें सरंक्षण तथा सहायता dee; वही सच्चे मुसलमान हैं, उन्हीं के लिए क्षमा है और रिज्कुन करीम (स्वर्ग में उदार भोजन) है.
[8:74] Hilali & Khan

And those who believed, and emigrated and strove hard in the Cause of Allah (Al-Jihad), as well as those who gave (them) asylum and aid; - these are the believers in truth, for them is forgiveness and Rizqun Karim (a generous provision i.e. Paradise).

[8:74] Shakir

And (as for) those who believed and fled and struggled hard in Allah's way, and those who gave shelter and helped, these are the believers truly; they shall have forgiveness and honorable provision.

Heaven of Allah is for those who do Jihad.

3:142

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللَّـهُ الَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا مِنكُمْ وَيَعْلَمَ الصَّابِرِينَ

[3:142] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

(मुसलमानों) क्या तुम ये समझते हो कि सब के सब बहिश्त में चले ही जाओगे और क्या ख़ुदा ने अभी तक तुममें से उन लोगों को भी नहीं पहचाना जिन्होंने जेहाद किया और न साबित क़दम रहने वालों को ही पहचाना

[3:142] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

क्या तुमने यह समझ रखा है कि जन्नत में यूँ ही प्रवेश करोगे, जबकि अल्लाह ने अभी उन्हें परखा ही नहीं जो तुममें जिहाद (सत्य-मार्ग में जानतोड़ कोशिश) करनेवाले है। - और दृढ़तापूर्वक जमें रहनेवाले है

[3:142] Ahmed Raza Khan

What! You assume that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet tested your warriors, nor yet tested the steadfast?

[३:१४२] नीरज अत्री

क्या तुम्हें लगता है कि अल्लाह द्वारा ये जांच किये बिना कि तुम उसके लिए लड़े थे और तुम ही अस सबिरिन  हो, तुम जन्नत  में प्रवेश पा सकोगे.

[3:142] Hilali & Khan

Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allah tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)?

[3:142] Yusuf Ali

Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without Allah testing those of you who fought hard (In His Cause) and remained steadfast?

Shaheed is given providence by Allah as he is nearer to Allah.

3:169

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ أَمْوَاتًا ۚ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ

[3:169] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं नदवी

और जो लोग ख़ुदा की राह में शहीद किए गए उन्हें हरगिज़ मुर्दा न समझना बल्कि वह लोग जीते जागते मौजूद हैं अपने परवरदिगार की तरफ़ से वह( तरह तरह की) रोज़ी पाते हैं )

[3:169] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & अहमद

तुम उन लोगों को जो अल्लाह के मार्ग में मारे गए है, मुर्दा न समझो, बल्कि वे अपने रब के पास जीवित हैं, रोज़ी पा रहे हैं

[३:१६९] नीरज अत्री
जो अल्लाह के राह में मारे गए हैं, उन्हें मुर्दा  मत समझना. कदापि नहीं. वो तो अपने रब के पास जीवित हैं और उचित सामग्रियां पा रहे हैं.

[3:169] Hilali & Khan

Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.

[3:169] Yusuf Ali

Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord;

[3:169] Qaribullah

You must not think that those who were killed in the way of Allah are dead. But rather, they are alive with their Lord and have been provided for,

Co – operate with each other in Jihad.

22:78

وَجَاهِدُوا فِي اللَّـهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ ۚ هُوَ اجْتَبَاكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ ۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ۚ هُوَ سَمَّاكُمُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِن قَبْلُ وَفِي هَـٰذَا لِيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ ۚ فَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِاللَّـهِ هُوَ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۖ فَنِعْمَ الْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ

[22:78] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान एवं अहमद

और परस्पर मिलकर जिहाद करो अल्लाह के मार्ग में, जैसा कि जिहाद का हक़ है। उसने तुम्हें चुन लिया है - और धर्म के मामले में तुमपर कोई तंगी और कठिनाई नहीं रखी। तुम्हारे बाप इबराहीम के पंथ को तुम्हारे लिए पसन्द किया। उसने इससे पहले तुम्हारा नाम मुस्लिम (आज्ञाकारी) रखा था और इस ध्येय से - ताकि रसूल तुमपर गवाह हो और तुम लोगों पर गवाह हो। अतः नमाज़ का आयोजन करो और ज़कात दो और अल्लाह को मज़बूती से पकड़े रहो। वही तुम्हारा संरक्षक है। तो क्या ही अच्छा संरक्षक है और क्या ही अच्छा सहायक!

[22:78] फ़ारूक़ ख़ान & नदवी

ताकि तुम कामयाब हो और जो हक़ जिहाद करने का है खुदा की राह में जिहाद करो उसी नें तुमको बरगुज़ीदा किया और उमूरे दीन में तुम पर किसी तरह की सख्ती नहीं की तुम्हारे बाप इबराहीम ने मजहब को (तुम्हारा मज़हब बना दिया उसी (खुदा) ने तुम्हारा पहले ही से मुसलमान (फरमाबरदार बन्दे) नाम रखा और कुरान में भी (तो जिहाद करो) ताकि रसूल तुम्हारे मुक़ाबले में गवाह बने और तुम पाबन्दी से नामज़ पढ़ा करो और ज़कात देते रहो और खुदा ही (के एहकाम) को मज़बूत पकड़ो वही तुम्हारा सरपरस्त है तो क्या अच्छा सरपरस्त है और क्या अच्छा मददगार है

[22:78] Ahmed Raza Khan

And fight in Allah's cause as is the true manner of fighting; He has preferred you and has not kept any hardship upon you in religion; the religion of your father Ibrahim; Allah has named you Muslims – in the previous Books and in this Qur’an, so that the Noble Messenger be your guardian and witness, and you be witness against other people; therefore keep the prayer established and give charity, and hold fast to the rope of Allah; He is your Master; so what an excellent Master and what an excellent Supporter!

[२२:७८] नीरज अत्री

और अल्लाह के राह में जिहाद करो जैसा कि जम कर करना चाहिए (ताकि उसका नाम सब से ऊपर हो). उसने तुम्हें चुना है (ताकि तुम इस्लाम का संदेश दे कर लोगों को इस्लाम में बुलाएं), तुम्हारे ईमान  में, जोकि तुम्हारे पिता इब्राहिम का सम्प्रदाय है, कोई कठिनाई नहीं होगी. ये वही (अल्लाह) है, जिस ने इस से पहले और अब इस कुरआन में तुम्हारा नाम मुसलमान रखा है ताकि उसका रुसूल तुम्हारा गवाह (साक्षी) बने और तुम मानवजाति के साक्षी बनो. इस लिए नमाज़ अदा  करो, ज़कात  दो और अल्लाह को थामे रखो (अर्थात अल्लाह में विश्वास रखो और प्रत्येक कार्य में उस पर निर्भर रहो). वही तुम्हारा मौला  है, क्या अद्भुत मौला  है जो कि एक महान सहायक है.


[22:78] Hilali & Khan

And strive hard in Allah's Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion, Islam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it is the religion of your father Ibrahim (Abraham) (Islamic Monotheism). It is He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Quran), that the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) may be a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind! So perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), give Zakat and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!

[22:78] Yusuf Ali

And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation); that the Messenger may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector - the Best to protect and the Best to help!
